Beginning Quilting #2



Beginning Quilting 2 – This class will expand on skills learned in Beginning Quilting 1, learning to mark and sew a commonly used quilt block called a Half-Square Triangle, or HST. Your completed blocks will make a stunning 60” x 70” throw size quilt top in the colors of your choice.

Have basic sewing knowledge and ability to sew accurate 1/4" seams, trim blocks to size.

Requirements:
Prerequisite Beginning Quilting 1, Fabric Requirements: (10% discount on fabric required for class if purchased in store, Proof of class registration required.) Background fabric: 2-1/2 yards, 1/2 yard of 7 different bright fabrics. Binding: 5/8 yard Backing: 4 yards of 42-44" WOF or 2 yards of 108" WOF. ( You will not need this for the class, but will need to finish the project) Tip: You can use ANY fabric of your choice for this project. Change out the background and/or Bright fabrics to make it from a Rainbow theme to Seasonal, Holiday, or your favorite colors! Basic Supplies: Sewing machine with extra needles, Scissors or thread snips, Straight pins, Fabric marker or chalk pencil, 100% cotton thread (Neutral color is fine for piecing), Cutting mat (12" X 18" minimum), Rotary cutter, Acrylic ruler (6" X 12" minimum). Recommended: Quilter's Magic Wand (for making fabric squares).

Barb has been sewing for 50 years (clothing and crafts) and started her quilting journey 14 years ago after retiring from a Computer Paraprofessional job at an elementary school in northern California. She especially enjoys traditional piecing and applique, and is a stickler for matching seams!
