Block Party: Strip Pieced Block w/ Variations
This block looks challenging but is actually simple to construct using strip piecing with 2-1/2" WOF strips. The trick is in the sub-cutting which will give you a variety of layout options to choose from before sewing the sub-cut blocks back together. Each completed block is 12-1/2" unfinished.

Skill Details:
Sewing a straight line using 1/4" seam allowances; cutting with rotary cutter and mat; trimming block sizes
Requirements:
Fabric Requirements:
(2) 2-1/2" WOF* matching prints
(1) 2-1/2" WOF coordinating print (with the two matching prints)
(2) 2-1/2" WOF contrasting solid or blender (a lighter color is recommended)
*WOF = Width Of Fabric
Basic Supplies:
Sewing Machine in good working order (with extra needles)
Scissors or thread snips AND seam ripper
Straight pins
100% cotton thread (neutral color is fine for piecing)
Cutting Mat (12” x 18” minimum) and Rotary Cutter
Acrylic Ruler (13” minimum square up ruler)
Personal iron and wool mat if you have it; only one iron in classroom
