Beginning Quilting #3 - Around the Town



This class will introduce a new technique commonly used in quilt patterns, building on skills learned in previous beginning quilting classes. Accuracy in cutting, piecing and pressing is stressed! 


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Previous cutting and piecing experience, either beginning quilting classes or sewing experience.
Requirements: Fabric Requirements: Main Print (8" squares) - 1 yard Star Centers (3-1/2" squares) - 3/8 yard Star Points - 7 fat sixths (12" x 21") of coordinating fabric OR 1 yard if you want your star points all the same color Background (light-colored rectangles) - 1-1/8 yards Binding - 1/2 yard PATTERN: Villa Rosa “Around the Town” BASIC SUPPLIES: Sewing Machine in good working order (with extra needles) Scissors or thread snips Straight pins 100% cotton thread (neutral color is fine for piecing) Pencil or fabric marking pen, ruler for marking sewing lines Cutting Mat (12” x 18” minimum) and Rotary Cutter Acrylic Ruler (6” x 12” minimum) Optional: Personal iron and wool mat
Instructor: Barb Rose
Instructor Bio: Barb has been sewing for 50 years (clothing and crafts) and started her quilting journey in 2010 after retiring from a Computer Paraprofessional job at an elementary school in northern California. She especially enjoys traditional piecing and applique, and is a stickler for matching seams!
